This is a sample letter, please alter as you wishI am writing to express my dissatisfaction at plans by the Tyne and Wear Integrated Transport Authority (ITA) to waste millions of pounds of taxpayers’ money to explore the value of ‘Quality Contracts’ for our local buses. I believe that this money would be better spent improving some of the outstanding issues on the provision of bus services currently in operation. Handing control back to a public sector organisation when government cuts are widespread could put crucial services at risk. Major investments have been made in vehicles, services and people by private bus companies and I would ask if this same level of support will be possible under the ITA/Nexus model being proposed? I believe that the ITA’s proposals are a threat to the long-term viability of bus services not just in Tyne and Wear but also from neighbouring areas in Durham and Northumberland. I have pledged my support to Go North East’s ‘Charter for Positive Change’, which aims to take on board the views of passengers and local businesses to provide quality bus services that the people of the North East deserve. I would appreciate your response to this issue and hope my views will be taken into consideration when reviewing this scheme.(required)
